  • School Bus Retrofit Reimbursement: The Illinois State Board of Education will reimburse any qualifying school district for the cost of converting gasoline buses to more fuel-efficient engines or to engines using alternative fuels, including electric school buses. READ MORE →
  • Community Solar Energy Sovereignty Grant Program: Through the Community Solar Energy Sovereignty Grant Program, the Illinois Department Of Commerce And Economic Opportunity support pre-development and development of community solar projects that promote community ownership and energy sovereignty. Grants are awarded to applicants that best demonstrate the ability and intent to create community ownership and other local community benefits including local community wealth building via community renewable generation projects. Grants shall be prioritized to applicants for whom the proposed project is located in; the project supports an equity investment eligible community or communities; and the proposed project provides additional benefits for participating low-income households.   • Illinois Clean Energy Foundation (Closed as of December 2024): Founded in 1999 through an amendment to the Illinois Public Utilities Act, the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation (the Foundation) provided support to projects that improved energy efficiency and preserved or enhanced natural habitats and wildlife areas throughout the State of Illinois. The Foundation was an independent organization funded with a $225 million endowment provided by Commonwealth Edison. From inception, through responsible management and investment, the Foundation grew its fund. Over 25 years, excluding its final grant, the Foundation distributed 5,082 grants totaling approximately $323.2 million to Illinois schools, municipalities, local government agencies and nonprofit organizations.   • Illinois Solar Energy Association Ambassadors: Solar Ambassadors are individual ISEA members that are solar energy advocates. Many have a solar electric or hot water system on their residence or small business. They are proactively engaged with public and policymakers to increase awareness, understanding, support, and use of renewable energy technologies. READ MORE →
