• Brighter Maryland - A Study on Maryland Solar Schools: The Solar Foundation's report on all 36 Maryland K-12 schools with solar PV systems currently installed as of 2014. Recognizing this potential, The Solar Foundation sought to more fully explore the breadth of potential for additional Maryland schools to “go solar,” and to help school district administrators, teachers, and other public officials better understand which schools and districts stand to benefit the most from investments in solar energy. • Solar Technical Assistance Program: The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) Solar Technical Assistance Program provides technical assistance to site and to conduct preliminary development of solar projects to determine solar access and site optimization. This program is only open to state agencies, public universities, community colleges, public schools, as well as local government (Counties/Cities/ Municipalities) entities. READ MORE →
• Public Facility Solar Grant Program: The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) Public Facility Solar Grant Program provides grant funding to support the installation of solar arrays on existing infrastructure, such as parking lots or rooftops, for public institutions. Application for funding will be accepted from state agencies, public universities, community colleges, public schools, as well as local government (Counties/Cities/Municipalities) entities for projects to be located on existing infrastructure.   • For purchased systems, MEA will provide grants up to $2,500/kW of PV solar installed, with a cap of $125,000 per project.
  • For 3rd party owned solar canopy systems, MEA will provide grants up to $600/kW, with a cap of $300,000 per project.
  • For 3rd party owned rooftop systems, MEA will provide grants up to $400/kW, with a cap of $200,000 per project.

• Maryland Net Zero Energy School Initiative Grant Program: The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) and the Public School Construction Program (PSCP) have partnered in a Net Zero School Initiative to construct three new net zero energy schools in Maryland. The Maryland Public Service Commission, the State of Maryland's utility regulator, has approved the use of $9 million of the Customer Investment Fund to create a program to enable the design and construction of three net zero energy public schools within the BGE service territory.
