- Advanced Energy Fund Grant: The Advanced Energy Fund Grant from the Ohio Department of Development supports Ohio schools, nonprofits, and businesses in completing energy efficiency and advanced energy projects. Schools may qualify for funding to upgrade lighting, HVAC systems, insulation, and energy management controls, provided the project results in at least 15% energy savings and has a payback period of 15 years or less. - Ohio Energy Efficiency Program: The Energy Efficiency Program though the Ohio Department of Development helps Ohio schools, businesses, and nonprofits lower energy costs by identifying energy-saving opportunities and developing customized energy plans. Schools can participate in energy audits and access support for implementing efficiency measures. Graduate-level engineering students also assist with assessments, providing hands-on expertise. Schools that have already completed an ASHRAE II energy audit within the last two years may qualify for additional funding through the Energy Loan Fund. READ MORE →
- Ohio Solar Schools Program: The Ohio Solar Schools Initiative teaches the value of solar energy and energy efficiency to k-12 students and college students throughout Ohio. Solar panels are installed on educational centers and schools so that they are visible to passersby and to the students from school grounds. Combining high visibility with teacher training and data collection, the schools and education centers are turned into teaching laboratories. The Ohio Solar Schools Initiative was one of the first of its kind in the United States and it began with American Electric Power’s (AEP) Learning from Light Initiative at the Bluffsview Elementary School in Worthington Ohio in 1998. - Shared Power Network: This nonprofit organization strives to bring the benefit of solar energy to every classroom in the state of Ohio. Local solar installations provide benefits for school-age students, educators, utility-paying schools, and nonprofit organizations. SPN aims to bring those benefits to all by helping schools find funding, manage solar projects, and ensure that teachers incorporate solar education into the classroom. READ MORE →
