General resources regarding state clean energy policies, incentives, and utilities.

  • Rhode Island Renewable Energy Fund (REF) Grants: The Renewable Energy Fund (REF), administered by CommerceRI, provides grants for schools, nonprofits, and municipalities to develop solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and small hydro projects in Rhode Island. Schools can apply for funding under Small-Scale, Commercial-Scale, or Community Renewable categories, with incentives aimed at reducing upfront installation costs. Additional funding is available for solar carports and energy storage projects. Applications are accepted in rounds, with funding subject to availability. READ MORE →
  • Renewable Incentives and Programs: National Grid's Renewable Energy Growth program, providing resources on distributed generation in the state. READ MORE →
  • Sales and Use Tax (Incentives): Solar financial incentives from OpenEI, including a solar tax exemption. READ MORE →
  • Solarize Rhode Island: The Solarize Rhode Island Program is over. OER, through this successful program, has helped educate thousands of Rhode Islanders about the benefits of solar PV. During the five year program, 733 residents and business owners have signed contracts for small-scale solar electricity systems with the program. Thousands more have been educated about the economic and environmental benefits of solar PV, energy efficiency, and other clean energy technologies. READ MORE →
