Wyoming Resources

General resources regarding state clean energy policies, incentives, and utilities.

  • Wyoming Energy Matching Funds (EMF) Program: The Energy Matching Funds (EMF) Program, managed by the Wyoming Energy Authority (WEA), provides funding for transformative energy projects that align with Wyoming’s energy needs. The program supports projects related to carbon capture, hydrogen production, biochar, battery storage, wind, solar, and other advanced energy technologies. Applicants must secure at least 50% matching funds from private or federal sources. The review process includes public comment periods and multiple layers of evaluation before final approval. Concept papers are accepted on a quarterly basis, with submission deadlines on March 1, July 1, and November 1 each year. READ MORE →
  • Local Government Energy Audit/Retrofits: The Local Government Energy Audit/Retrofits Program, administered by the Wyoming Energy Authority, provides funding for schools, local governments, small businesses, and agricultural entities to improve energy efficiency. Schools can receive up to $50,000 for energy retrofits, covering upgrades such as lighting, insulation, windows, doors, air conditioning, furnaces, boilers, and water heaters. Small businesses and agricultural operations may qualify for energy audits and retrofits with maximum incentives of $10,000 and $3,000, respectively. Funding supports projects that reduce energy costs and improve building performance. READ MORE →
  • Solar in Wyoming: Wyoming does not have a renewable energy portfolio standard and no renewable energy credits to incentivize solar customers. However, it does have a limited net metering program. READ MORE →
